Wilma J. Taliaferro, 80, died July 6, 2007 at Oakbrook Health and Rehab Center in Thorp, Wisconsin.
Wilma was born on October 10, 1926 in Madison, Kansas, the daughter of Wilber and Agnes (McKean) McMurray. She grew up in the Madison-Hamilton area and attended area schools. She lived in Severy until 1967 before moving to LaHarpe, Kansas. Wilma attended Neosho County College and graduated with a LPN degree. She worked at Allen County Hospital until her retirement. In 2003 she moved to LaMoille, Illinois to be closer to her granddaughter Tonya (Taliaferro) Conger. She then moved to Wisconsin to be closer to her daughter Helen Taliaferro. Wilma enjoyed spending time gardening, tending her flowers and vegetables.
On June 18, 1945 she married Frank Taliaferro in Emporia, Kansas. He preceded her in death in 1986.
She is survived by daughter, Helen Taliaferro of Augusta, Wisconsin; son, Clarence (Jean) Taliaferro of Clinton, Iowa; four grandchildren, Brad and Theresa and daughter of Delmar, Iowa, Nancy Warning and two daughters of Grover, North Carolina, Tonya and Jeff Conger and two children of Withie, Wisconsin and Jamie Taliaferro and two children of Clinton, Iowa; brother Harold (Alice) McMurray of California; two sisters, LouAnn Norman of California and Loretta Classen of Topeka, Kansas. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother Marvin McMurray.
Memorial services will be at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, June 11, 2007 at Severy Baptist Church in Severy, Kansas with Tony Pameticky officiating. Inurnment will follow in South Lawn Cemetery in Severy, Kansas.
A memorial has been established in her name to the Alzheimer’s Association. Contributions may be sent in care of the funeral home at P.O. Box 595, Eureka, Kansas 67045.
