William Thomas “Bill” Miller, died on Saturday, November 12, 2011 at the Eureka Nursing Center in Eureka, at the age of 87.
He was born on August 14, 1924 in Utopia, the son of Ralph Leroy and Mildred May (Taylor) Miller. He was raised in rural Eureka and attended Taylor school, and later graduated from Eureka High School. On August 19, 1951, Bill was united in marriage to Neola Mae McLean in Piedmont. Bill was a lifelong farmer and worked at Ranch Aid in Eureka.
He was a member of Fidelity Masonic Lodge #106 of Eureka, and the First United Methodist Church of Eureka. Beginning in high school, he was a pianist in several local dance bands including the Rhythm Masters.
He is survived by his wife, Neola of the home; four children: daughter, Stacey and husband, Jim Warner of Manhattan; son, Craig and wife, Kathy Miller of Eureka; daughter, Madeleine and husband, Clint Rusk of Brookings, South Dakota; and daughter, Allison and husband, Jim McNerney of Wichita; seven grandchildren, Cory and Charlene Miller, Travis and Tyler Warner, Shane and Ashley Rusk, and Cody McNerney; two great-grandchildren, Cally and Cami Miller; one brother, Robert and wife, Phyllis Miller of Columbia, Missouri; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, James and wife, Betty, and one sister, Marie.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at the First United Methodist Church in Eureka with Reverend Kenneth A Baker officiating. Cremation will be effected after the service. A private family inurnment will take place at a later date. Visitation hours are from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Tuesday, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to Greenwood County Home Health or to the First United Methodist Church. Contributions may be sent in care of Koup Family Funeral Home at P.O. Box 595, Eureka, KS 67045, which was in charge of service arrangements.
