William John Lewis, of Piedmont, Kansas died on March 18, 2005 at Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital in El Dorado, Kansas at the age of 79.
He was born in Wichita, Kansas the son of John W. and Frances (Hodgson) Lewis. He was raised in Piedmont, Kansas attending Piedmont High School. After schooling he farmed and ranched for most of his life. He owned a trucking business for several years.
On July 29, 1950 he was united in marriage to Marjorie E. Claycomb in Eureka, Kansas. They made their home in Piedmont, Kansas ranching and farming.
He is survived by his wife Marjorie of Piedmont, Kansas; one son Gary Lewis of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; one daughter, Mary Scott of Idalou, Texas; five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; one sister, Lois Kingsley of Wichita, Kansas.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, March 22, 2005 with Pastor Alan Hunter officiating. Interment will be at Star Cemetery, Piedmont, Kansas.
