William Lawrence Buckle, of Mt. Dora, Florida, former Hamilton resident, died on Thursday, March 27, 2003, at the age of 56.
William was born in Emporia on May 3, 1946, the son of Edward E. and Myrtle A. (Jennings/Kirkwood) Buckle. He was raised in Hamilton and graduated from Hamilton High School with the class of 1964. After high school he attended Kansas State Teacher College in Emporia before beginning his career in the United States Navy. William served his country with honor and distinction for 30 years before retiring from the Navy with the rank of Chief Warrant Officer. He has been living in Florida since his retirement.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia, of the home, two sons, Rodney Vozar of Citronelle, Alabama and Wayne Solley of Biloxi, Mississippi, two step sons, Danny Vazquez and Maurico Vazquez both of Mt. Dora, one step daughter, Monica Vazquez of Mt. Dora, nine grandchildren, five brothers, Edward of Eureka, Frank of Rhode Island, Paul of Pittsburg, Bert of Emporia, and Mike of Umatilla, Florida, and two sisters, Barbara Jacoby of Lakeland, Florida and Mary Watson of Emporia and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister.
Graveside services and interment will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, April 2, 2003, at Janesville Cemetery in Hamilton. With V.F.W. Post #2712 of Eureka providing military services.
A memorial has been established in his name to Hospice of Lake/Sumter Counties. Contributions may be sent in care of the Koup Family Funeral Home, which was in charge of service arrangements.
