William Earl Blevins, Sr. of Kincaid, died on Friday, April 1, 2011, at Garden Villas of Lenexa, at the age of 61.
He was born on July 21, 1949, in Toronto, the son of Archie Joseph and Gertrude Elizabeth (Williams) Blevins. He was raised and schooled in southeast Kansas. After his schooling he joined the United States Army where he served in Vietnam with honor and dignity. He was discharged after four years and made his home in Neodesha. He served the City of Yates Center of a police officer in the 1970’s. Later he worked as a trucker and a mechanic. He retired to Kincaid.
Bill is survived by four children, son, William Blevins, Jr. of Independence; son, Robert Blevins of Olathe; daughter, Terri Shoop of Independence, Missouri; and daughter, Misty Montoya of Vinita, Oklahoma; 11 grandchildren; one brother, Richard Blevins of Kansas; and two sisters, Patricia Sisemore of Arkansas; and Connie Crawford of Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Tommy Blevins.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at Toronto Cemetery, in Toronto with Pastor Alan Hunter of the Jefferson Street Baptist Church officiating. A viewing will be held from 11:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M., Wednesday, at Koup Family Funeral Home which was in charge of service arrangements.
