Wilbur Clayton Wygle of Eureka died on December 21, 2010 at LakePoint Nursing Center in El Dorado, at the age of 76.
He was born on February 8, 1934, in Eureka, the son of Leland and Sadie (Smith) Wygle. Wilbur was raised in Eureka and graduated from Eureka High School. After his schooling he joined the National Guard. Wilbur then returned to Kansas and went to work for Beech Aircraft in Wichita. When Wilbur was laid off from Beechcraft he worked in various grocery stores as a stockman. He moved between Denver and Eureka before settling back in Eureka for good.
On January 30, 1959 he was united in marriage to Marguerite Brown in Eureka, Kansas, to this marriage three children were born.
Wilbur was a member of the Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his sons, Lewis L. “Lee” and wife, Dawn Wygle of Wichita; Brent E. Wygle of Eureka; and Bradley S. Wygle of El Dorado; two grandchildren, Alexander and Alicia; brother, Howard Wygle of San Diego, California; sister, Edith Roglin of Emporia; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Dorothy Lozier, and Hazel Long, and one brother, Leonard Wygle.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, December 27, 2010 at Koup Family Funeral Home with Mr. Jayme A. Koup officiating. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to the Butler County Department of Aging. Contributions may be sent in care of Koup Family Funeral Home at P.O. Box 595, Eureka, KS 67045, which was in charge of service arrangements.
