Wayne Andrew Hendrickson, of Eureka, died on Tuesday, April 7, 2009, Wesley Medical Center, in Wichita, at the age of 69.
He was born on March 18, 1940, in Eureka, the son of Ole S. and Elizabeth (Omundson) Hendrickson. He was raised in Upper Fall River, attending Holverson, and later graduating from Eureka High School with the class of 1958. In 1962, Wayne graduated from Kansas State Teachers College. After his schooling, he returned to Eureka where he farmed and ranched.
Wayne was a member of the Christ Lutheran Church. He was also very active and involved with the community. He was a member of the USD 389 school board, the Cattlemen’s Association, the Greenwood County Fair Board, the South Salem Township Board, the Christ Lutheran Church Council, and the Farm Bureau Board.
He is survived by one son, Mark and wife, Teresa Hendrickson of Eureka; one daughter, Leslie and husband, Joe Fitzgerald of Houston; three granddaughters, Ambrea, Beth, and Grace Hendrickson, all of Eureka; one brother, Paul Hendrickson of Eureka; and one sister, Mary Ellen Forbes of Eureka. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Orin Hendrickson.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, April 11, 2009, at Christ Lutheran Church in Eureka, with Pastor Maureen Howard officiating. Cremation has been effected. A private family inurnment will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to the Christ Lutheran Church. Contributions may be sent in care of Koup Family Funeral Home at P.O. Box 595, Eureka, KS 67045, which was in charge of service arrangements.
