Wayne Edwin Brougher of Eureka, passed away on Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at Wesley Medical Center, in Wichita, at the age of 81.
He was born on November 21, 1934 in Howard, the son of F.W. and Thelma (Hon) Brougher in Elk County, northwest of Howard. He was raised in rural Elk County and graduated from Piedmont High School. On June 12, 1954, Wayne was united in marriage to Kay Jackson in Howard. Wayne served in the Army National Guard where he served with honor and dignity. They made their home in Eureka and Wayne began ranching. He loved to work with cattle and was a frequent buyer and seller. Over the years he raised a lot of cattle and had cattle in feed lots in several different states.
He was a member of the Howard United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Kay of Eureka; sister, Barbara Gaffney of Augusta; two nephews, Brett and wife, Deanna Gaffney of Wichita; and Larry and wife, Stella Bolt of Derby. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Betty Bolt; and one niece, Sandra Bolt.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, February 26, 2016 at Koup Family Funeral Home, Eureka with Pastor Warren Olson of the Hamilton United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation hours are set from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Thursday, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church. Contributions may be sent in care of Koup Family Funeral Home, P.O. Box 595, Eureka, KS 67045, which is in charge of service arrangements.
