Warren P. Wheeler of Eureka, died on February 9, 2012 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita at the age of 86.
Warren was born on February 1, 1926 in Lindsay, California the son of Martin Luther and Margaret Alice (Sierman) Wheeler. Warren grew up in Greenwood County attending local schools. After his schooling, he joined the United States Army serving his country during the Korean Conflict. Warren returned to Eureka working for D.R. Parks driving a Skelly truck. Later he went to work for the Kansas State Highway Department as a maintenance worker until his retirement. After his retirement, he then mowed lawns and worked at Huntington Auction House
On March 28, 1950, he was united in marriage to Myrtle I. Bohard in Eureka. She preceded him in death in 2007. They were married 57 years.
Warren was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Royal Neighbors and a lifetime member of the VFW.
He is survived by several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Thursday, February 16, 2012 at Christ Lutheran Church with Pastor Larry Cross and Pastor Maureen Howard officiating. Inurnment will follow at 1:30 P.M. at Greenwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to Lutheran Church. Contributions may be sent in care of Koup Family Funeral Home at P.O. Box 595, Eureka, KS 67045, which was in charge of service arrangements.
