Warren Cisco Hughes, of Hamilton, died on April 29, 2004 at the Kansas Veterans Home in Winfield, Kansas at the age of 75.
He was born on April 17, 1929 in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of Clifton J. and Christine (Critser) Hughes. He was raised in Greenville, Kentucky and graduated from Greenville High School. After graduation he served his country during the Korean Conflict. He then attended the University of Tennessee; the University of Sanborn, Illinois; Southeast Missouri State University; Southwest Missouri State University; Emporia State Teachers College; Wichita State University; and Pittsburg State University.
On May 24, 1952 he was united in marriage to Pasty S. Williams in Hickman, Kentucky. After they were married, the family lived in various places including Hickman, Kentucky, Indiana, Tennessee, and Missouri. They moved to Hamilton in 1971 where Warren taught Industrial Arts and Drivers Education until retiring in 1995.
Warren was a member of the Freewill Baptist Church in KoshKonong, Missouri, Madison Masonic Lodge #196, Disable American Veterans Military Order of the Purple Hearts, and Amvets.
He is survived by four sons; Randall of Augusta, Jerry of Waverley, Terry of Windsor, South Carolina, Warren L. of LeRoy; two daughters, Susan Johnson of Larned, Penny Hughes-Macey of Hamilton; twenty-two grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren; two brothers, Calvin of Henderson, Kentucky, Charles W. of Garden Grove, California; and one sister Viva Jane Palmer of Union City, Tennessee. He was preceded in death by his wife Patsy, his parents, and one brother.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, May 4, 2004 at Koup Family Funeral Home with Mr. Dean Fox officiating. Interment will follow in Janesville Cemetery, Hamilton. The family will greet friends, and visitors from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M., Monday, May 3, at the funeral home.
