Virginia Williams, of Toronto, died on March 6, 2005, at Medicalodge in Eureka, at the age of 77.
She was born on January 17, 1928, in Winfield, the daughter of Gaylon and Grace (Gilmore) Nickels. She was raised in Winfield, graduating from Winfield High School. After high school, she attended Southwestern College completing a master’s degree in music. She played the violin with the Wichita Symphony Orchestra while in high school. She then moved to Toronto, teaching music in Towanda and Toronto. Later she worked for the First National Bank of Toronto as a bookkeeper and teller.
On March 5, 1954, she married Charles Williams in Winfield. The family made their home in Toronto, and raised three daughters.
She is survived by her husband Charles; three daughters, Mary Eastman of Emporia, Carol Throckmorton of Altoona and Ruth King of Almena; five grandchildren; and two sisters, Helen Welch of Olathe, and Dorothy Dimit of Winfield. She was preceded in death by her parents, one great-granddaughter, and one brother.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, March 9, 2005, at Koup Family Funeral Home, with Reverend Jim Uhlig, of the Methodist Church of Toronto officiating. Interment will be at Toronto Cemetery, in Toronto.
