Virginia Maxine Vander Meyden, of Wichita, died at The Vyne at Crestview in Wichita on Wednesday, July 30, 2003, at the age 88.
She was born in Stanberry, Missouri on March 27, 1915, the daughter of Amos and Erma J. (Phillips) Chapman. She was raised in Waverly and attended Waverly schools.
In 1930 she moved to Harris, Kansas and then in 1943 she moved to Garnett, Kansas The family then moved to Wichita in 1950. On August 28, 1968, Maxine was united in marriage to Cornelius “Dutch” Vander Meyden, in Miami, Oklahoma. They made their home in Wichita.
Virginia was a member of the Calvary Chapel Church of Wichita.
She is survived by her husband, Dutch of the home; three daughters, Wilma Gourley of Kelso, Washington, Mary Margarette Vaughters of Atlanta, Kansas, and Charlotte Barr of Wichita; 9 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and 3 great great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Jeanie Axtell, two brothers, and four sisters.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 P.M, Saturday, August 2, 2003, at the Twin Grove Cemetery in Severy with Pastor Alan Hunter of the Jefferson Street Baptist Church officiating. Service arrangements by Koup Family Funeral Home.
