Virginia Lee Swats, of Eureka, died on September 6, 2003, at Greenwood County Hospital in Eureka, at the age of 76.
She was born on March 26, 1927, in Wichita, Kansas the daughter of John and Mildred (Kelly) Boyer. She was raised on a farm near Wichita and attended graduated from Wichita schools. She attended cosmetology school for two years and was a licensed cosmetologist.
In 1952 Virginia was united in marriage to Charles William Swats in Hot Springs, Arkansas. The family made their home in Wichita. In 1992 she moved to Eureka until 1994 when she moved back to Wichita. Then in 1996, she returned to Eureka.
She was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church and the Daughter of the King church group.
She is survived by one son, Keith, of Eureka, seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and one sister, Dorothy Parker, of Wichita. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, September 10, 2003 at Koup Family Funeral Home, with Father Bill Lane of St. John’s Episcopal Church officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
A memorial has been established in her name with the Alzheimer’s Association. Contributions may be sent in care of the funeral home.
