Veta Lea Brockett of Neal, died on April 17, 2007, at her home in Neal, at the age of 79.
She was born on August 18, 1927, in Springfield, Colorado, the daughter of Homer Everett and Lola May (Herren) DeGraff. She attended school in Flint, Oklahoma. After her schooling, Veta married and they ran a sawmill business together. They later moved to La Junta, Colorado, where they lived for 20 years. They lived in Liberal, for several years before moving to Arkansas. In 1995, they moved to Neal.
On August 9, 1943, Veta married Walter J. Brockett in Siloam Springs, Arkansas.
She is survived by four sons, Kenneth Brockett of Greeley, Colorado; Larry Brockett of Fowler, Colorado; Steve Brockett of Atchison; and Donald Brockett of Alamogordo, New Mexico; two daughters, Charlet Smith of Wichita; and Sharon Wooderson of Neal; one sister-in-law, Lorene Stith of Roseburg, Oregon; one niece, Twila Anderson of Colcord, Oklahoma; seventeen grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and one brother, Everett DeGraff. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother, and one sister.
Graveside services will be held 10:00 A.M., Friday, April 20, 2007, at Neal Cemetery with Pastor Larry Evans of the Neal Evangelical Free Church officiating. A viewing will be held from 9 A.M. – 5 P.M., Thursday, at Koup Family Funeral Home.
