Velta Wyckoff of Quincy, died on Friday, March 16, 2012 at Lakepoint Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in El Dorado at the age of 86.

She was born on November 9, 1925, in Kunduros, Latvia, the daughter of Paulis and Anna (Puke’) Malins. She attended school in Latvia. During World War II, her family was removed from Latvia by German soldiers. Velta worked at the American Red Cross in Ansbach, Germany. She met her future husband at the USO Center dance.

On May 5, 1949, Velta was united in marriage to Robert Allen Wyckoff in Tonkawa, Oklahoma. They moved to their farm, near Quincy, in 1951, where she has resided since. Velta became a naturalized U.S. Citizen on May 1970. Velta retired from Artex Manufacturing in Yates Center, where she worked as a seamstress. She was active in the Eastern Star and American Legion Auxiliary. She was also an active member of the Stoney Point School community.

She is survived by her son, David Paul and wife, Debbie Wyckoff of Eureka; daughter, Joan Elaine and husband, Larry Dalvine of Pawhuska, Oklahoma; son, Allen Ray Wyckoff of Quincy; and son Ronald Lee Wyckoff of Phillipsburg; five grandchildren, Chase Dalvine, wife, Lynsey, Luke Dalvine, wife Cyndi, Dustin Wyckoff, wife Mandy, Alicia Muller, husband Mark, and Tabitha Wyckoff; seven great-grandchildren, Charley and Gentry Dalvine, Jacoby Dalvine, Addlar and Anson Wyckoff, Addie and Averyl Lam; and one brother, Alfred and wife, Delma Malins of Seattle, Washington. She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Thursday, March 22, 2012 at Quincy Cemetery, in Quincy with Pastor Mark Demas of the Hamilton United Methodist Church officiating. Visitation hours are from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Wednesday, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to the American Diabetes Association or to the American Heart Association. Contributions may be sent in care of Koup Family Funeral Home at P.O. Box 595, Eureka, KS 67045, which was in charge of service arrangements.
