Thomas Rodney Twadell was born on March 8, 1936 in Eureka, Kansas, and passed away on December 31, 2010 in Fontana, California.

Tom grew up on a farm in Climax, Kansas. He graduated from Eureka High School in 1954, and moved to Redondo Beach, California. He was a member of the Air National Guard and was on active duty at Keesler Air Force Base, in Biloxi, Mississippi for radar and radio training. He returned to California to study engineering at El Camino College.

He was employed by Douglas Aircraft Co. and later the Federal Aviation Agency until his retirement as Airways Facility Manager, Santa Ana, California in 1994. In 2001, he received his Associates Degree in Christian Leadership at Boise Bible College, Boise, Idaho.

He loved God’s great and beautiful country and took his family to experience National and State parks and Civil War sites from the Pacific to the Atlantic Ocean. He also wanted them to explore the Old Missions of California, the Giant Redwoods, the Nation’s Capitol, our early American heritage and too many other wonders to mention.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara (Gilbreath) Twadell; daughter, Diana Lynn Twadell; sister, Leonore Kathleen Tharp; niece, Carol McWhorter; niece, Janet Leiker; uncle, Virgil McCormack; cousin, Harold McCormack; and cousin, Evelyn Hendrickson. His son, Thomas R. Twadell, Jr. preceded him in death on July 25, 2010.

Memorial services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, October 7, 2011 at Greenwood Abbey, Greenwood Cemetery, in Eureka with Pastor Kenneth Baker of the First United Methodist Church officiating. Inurnment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
