Thelma Lucille Marhenke of Eureka, died on October 27, 2009, at the Life Care Center in Andover, at the age of 100 and a half.

She was born on April 24, 1909, the daughter of Guy and Amelia (Willis) Hall. She was raised in the Tonovay area and graduated from Tonovay High School. Thelma then attended Kansas State College. She worked at the Eureka Carnegie Library until she retired in the early 1970’s.

On June 21, 1935, she was united in marriage to Henry Marhenke in Tonovay. He preceded her in death on February 16, 1975.

Thelma was a member of the Christian & Congregational Church, Christian & Congregational Women’s Fellowship, Sorosis Women’s Club, and volunteered at the Greenwood County Blood Mobile, the Women’s Education Unit, and the Greenwood County Hospital Auxiliary.

She is survived by her son, Don Marhenke of Wichita; and one sister-in-law, Alpha Hall of Eureka; and many nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother, Charles Willis “Weige” Hall of Eureka.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M., Friday, October 30, 2009 at Koup Family Funeral Home, in Eureka with Rev. Rhonda K. Almond of the Christian & Congregational Church officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to the Christian & Congregational Church or to Hospice Care of Kansas. Contributions may be sent in care of Koup Family Funeral Home at P.O. Box 595, Eureka, KS 67045, which was in charge of service arrangements.
