Thelma V. Fitch, of Eureka, died on November 20, 2010 at Greenwood County Hospital at the age of 101.
She was born in Neal, Kansas on May 31, 1909, the daughter of Walter and Ora (Adkins) Roberts. She was raised in the Neal area and attended high school in Toronto. In 1927 she was united in marriage to Otis Black in Yates Center. To this union two children were born, Marceil and James Black. The marriage later ended in divorce. Thelma ran her housekeeping business before her marriage second marriage. In 1944 Thelma was united in marriage to E. W. Fitch. To this union was one child, E. Warren Fitch. Thelma worked with E.W. in his veterinary practice. She took care of the books and helped in the small animal surgery.
She was a member of the Methodist Church.
She is survived by two sons, E.Warren Fitch of Fort Worth, Tx. And James A. Black of Eureka and a daughter, Anita Fitch-Moore of Oak Grove, Mo; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Marceil Black and daughter Dorothy Fitch-Vanderbilt; and one brother, Orville Roberts.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M., Friday, November 26, 2010 at Koup Family Funeral Home with Jerry Clark presiding. Interment will follow at Toronto Cemetery.
