Thaine Martin Boone of Neal, went to be with Lord, Friday, February 12, 2016, at his home in Neal, at the age of 84.
He was born on October 22, 1931 in Quincy, the son of Ross Albert and Anne (Paske) Boone. He was raised in rural Neal and graduated from Neal High School with the Class of 1950. After his schooling, he began ranching with his father in Neal. On May 26, 1951, Thaine was united in marriage to Betty Harber in Neal. They made their home in Neal, where Thaine ranched for the rest of his life, except for one year, when he helped his brother Paul, in Dalhart, Texas.
He was a member of the Neal Evangelical Free Church, Gideons International, the Greenwood County Cattlemen’s Association, the Greenwood County Soil Conservation Board, the Greenwood County Watershed Board, the Farm Bureau Board, and the school board.
He is survived by his wife, Betty of the home; six children, daughter, Sandra Giles of Elbing; daughter, June and husband, Brett Laaser of Spring, Texas; daughter, Suzan and husband, Mike Greenwood of Hamilton; daughter, Carol and husband, John Blaes of Cherryvale; son, Kim and wife, Karla Boone of Neal; and daughter, Tricia and husband, Shawn Couch of Fredonia; twenty grandchildren; and thirty-eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; five siblings, sisters, Gladys Boone, and Joyce Shelton, brothers, Roscoe Boone and Paul Boone, and sister, Rosie Henderson; and one son-in-law, Gary Giles.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at the Neal Evangelical Free Church in Neal with Pastor Larry Evans officiating. Interment will follow at Neal Cemetery. Visitation hours are set from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Monday, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to the Neal Evangelical Free Church or Gideons International. Contributions may be sent in care of Koup Family Funeral Home, P.O. Box 595, Eureka, KS 67045, which is in charge of service arrangements.
