Terry Everett Campbell
Terry Everett Campbell, of Eureka, died Wednesday, April 18, 2012, at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice in Wichita, at the age of 70.
He was born on August 19, 1941, at Kinsley, Kansas, the son of Everett Floyd and Esther May (Kyle) Campbell. Terry was raised in Lewis, Kansas, and graduated from Lewis High School with the class of 1960. He then attended Fort Hays State University, and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Teaching in 1964.
On December 30, 1961, Terry was united in marriage to Lee Ann Pool in Kinsley, Kansas. They moved to Eureka, Kansas in 1964, where he accepted a science and math teaching position at Eureka High School. He continued teaching algebra in the district until his retirement in 1998.
He was Member of the City of Eureka Planning Commission, was a National Education Association representative for salary negotiations with the school district, and a member of the Eureka Country Club, serving on the board of directors for several years.
Terry is survived by his wife, Lee Ann, of the home; two sons, Kevin Campbell and his wife, Lori of Arkansas City, Kansas; and Kent Campbell and fiancé, Jolene Koerner of McPherson, Kansas; one daughter, Kim Cole and her husband, Bob of Andale, Kansas; seven grandchildren; and one brother, Denny Campbell of Aurora, Colorado. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, April 23, 2012, at Koup Family Funeral Home, with Mr. Jayme Koup officiating. A private family inurnment will follow at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to the Eureka Public Library. Contributions may be sent in care of Koup Family Funeral Home at P.O. Box 595, Eureka, KS 67045, which was in charge of service arrangements.
