Teresa Lynelle Basham of Wichita, Kansas, died Thursday, January 2, 2020, at Ascension Via Christi St. Francis Hospital, at the age of 66.

Teresa was born February 8, 1953, in Hobbs, New Mexico, the daughter of Dr. George Leo and RosaLee Marie (Erickson) Basham. She was raised in Poplar Bluff, Missouri and attended local schools, graduating in 1971. She then attended the University of Missouri Columbia and Wichita State University, where she studied Chemistry. Teresa moved to Wichita, Kansas where she was a waitress for many years at different restaurants. She loved to cook and read. Teresa was often described as “beautiful, sweet, unique, and a wonderful seamstress,” where she shared her love to be a fashionable dresser. She was known by all to have the “gift of gab”, and everyone who knew her, loved her wonderful sense of humor and storytelling. Teresa enjoyed conversation and coffee.

She is survived by six siblings: Janie (Stuber) Berkbigler of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Mary Basham of Wichita, Kansas; Kristi West of Walnut Shade, Missouri; Dr. Kevin Basham of New York City, New York; Nancy Mack of Overland Park, Kansas; and Dr. Brian Basham of Aurora, Missouri; eight nieces and nephews; and one great-niece. She was preceded in death by her parents, and one brother, David George Basham.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, January 20, 2020, at Koup Family Funeral Home with Fr. Dominic Potnuru of Sacred Heart Catholic Church officiating. Inurnment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society. Contributions may be sent in care of Koup Family Funeral Home, P.O. Box 595, Eureka, KS 67045, which is overseeing arrangements. Condolences may be left for the family online, at koupfunerals.com.
