Ted Alvis Baker, of Eureka, died at his residence on Thursday, November 04, 2004, at the age of 75.
He was born in Hazel Valley, Arkansas on August 26, 1929, the son of David and Arvana (Arman) Baker. He was raised there and attended local schools. After his schooling Ted moved to Wichita, Kansas and pursued a 20 year career as a cook.
On July 27, 1964, Ted was united in marriage to Norma Jean Evenson-Fick in Wichita, Kansas. They made their home in Elkins, Arkansas where Ted began working for Elkhart Products of Arkansas. He retired in 1987, after 20 years of service. He and Jean moved to Eureka in 1989.
He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his wife, Jean of the home, one step-son, Lee Fick of Miami, Oklahoma, one step-daughter, Gloria Meeker of Plano, Texas, four step-grandchildren, eight step-great grandchildren, and one brother, Waymon Baker of West Fork, Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his parents and six brothers.
Funeral services will be held at 9:00 A.M., Saturday, October 6, 2004, at Koup Family Funeral Home with Pastor Roger Dennis of Christ Lutheran Church officiating. Interment will follow in the Barrier-Ladd Cemetery.
Memorials have been established in his name to the Greenwood County Hospice and the Eureka Senior Center. Contributions may be sent in care of the funeral home.
