Susan Louise Harmon of Eureka, formerly of Cherryvale, died on Monday, July 24, 2022, at the Eureka Nursing Center, in Eureka, at the age of 66.
She was born on July 17, 1956, in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of Charles Jacob and Ellene (Thurman) Hoffman. She was raised in Leawood and graduated from Shawnee Mission East High School. She later went on to Kansas State University and graduated in 1978, with a Bachelor of Animal Science.
On June 6, 1976, Susan was united in marriage to David Phillip Harmon in Kansas City, Kansas. They made their home in Wichita. To this union, two children were born. Later Susan attended Pittsburg State University, graduating in 1998 with a teaching degree. She taught 7th Grade Family & Consumer Sciences at Neodesha for 18 years. She was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease in 2016 but had been showing symptoms for six years prior.
Susan was the definition of a crafter. She sewed, quilted, knitted, crocheted, beaded, and scrapbooked. She was also a collector of beads, fabric, and the list goes on and on. She was a member of Alpha Delta Phi at K-State and belonged to a Quilting Guild in Neodesha.
She is survived by his husband, David of Hamilton; her two children, Jacob Charles and wife, Amy Harmon of Cherryvale; and Angela Louise and husband, Travis Colvin of Fort Scott; her father, Charles Hoffman of Kansas City, Kansas; three grandchildren: Hunter, Zack, and Ashlyn; and two brothers: Steve Hoffman of Charlotte, South Carolina; and Mark Hoffman of Kansas City, Kansas; mother-in-law, Berniece Harmon of Afton, Oklahoma; and sisters-in-law, Nancy Krikac of Santa Rosa, California; Peggy O’Neil of West Point, Indiana; and Carol Butts of Preston, Maryland. She was preceded in death by her mother.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, July 28, 2022, at Koup Family Funeral Home, Eureka with Pastor Kevin Lawrence of the Climax United Methodist Church officiating. Cremation has been effected.
