Sue Fern Bryant, formerly of Eureka, died at Sunset Manor Nursing Home in Waverly, on Friday, December 10, 2010, at the age of 82.
She was born in Greensburg, on December 6, 1928, the daughter of Rex and Eva (Lynch) Barbour. When Sue was three years old her mother passed away and she went to live with her aunt in Missouri. At the age of ten she moved back to Kansas and lived with an older sister and then an older brother. She spent her teenage years in Dodge City, and graduated from Dodge City High School with the class of 1948.
On November 10, 1948, she was united in marriage to Harold “Duane” Bryant in Cimarron. Sue worked in the Gray County Extension Office for several years before taking a position as Deputy Clerk in the Gray County Treasurers office. She retired from that position in 1991. She and Duane then moved to Eureka to be closer to their children.
Sue is survived by two sons, Vern Bryant of Wichita; and Jimmy Bryant of Winfield; two daughters, Marsha Williams of Eureka; and Karen Nielsen of Lebo; eight grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Duane, one grandson Bryant W. Mackey, four brothers, and three sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, December 14, 2010, at Koup Family Funeral Home in Eureka. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to Sunset Manor Nursing Home. Contributions may be sent in care of Koup Family Funeral Home at P.O. Box 595, Eureka, KS 67045, which was in charge of service arrangements.
