Steven Leroy Wiedeman, affectionately known as "Pappy," of Eureka, formerly of Burlington, Kansas, and Hallsville, Texas, passed away peacefully on October 24, 2024, at the age of 72, joining his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Born on January 2, 1952, in Great Bend, Kansas, Steven was the son of Marvin Leroy and Norma Jean (Resner) Wiedeman. He was raised in La Crosse, Kansas, where he graduated from La Crosse High School in 1970. He later attended Fort Hays State University but soon sought a more hands-on career. Following college, Steven and his brother Curtis operated the Dairy Delite in La Crosse.

Known for his strong work ethic and determination, Steve dedicated his career to the restaurant industry before relocating to East Texas in the early 1980s. There, he attended an Appliance Repair program at the local community college, excelling in his studies while also becoming largely self-taught. For over 40 years, he owned and operated "Steve’s Appliance" in Hallsville, Texas, positively impacting countless lives through his work.

In 1985, Steve welcomed his daughter, Rheanna, who became the light of his life. In 2011, he celebrated the addition of two more children, Alina and Logan, bringing him immense joy. Steve was a devoted father and cherished friend to his children.

During his time in East Texas, Steve became a beloved pillar of his community and church. His interests included scuba diving, cooking, and tinkering; he famously crafted a smoker from an old dishwasher, producing some of the best beef jerky and brisket around. A master upcycler, he transformed discarded items into unique treasures.

Upon his retirement, Steve returned to Burlington, Kansas, to reconnect with his roots. Despite facing the challenge of losing a leg, he remained determined and continued to pursue his passions without hesitation.

Steve made a lasting impression on everyone he met, embodying kindness and love. He will be fondly remembered as "everyone's Pappy," and his absence will leave a significant void in the lives of his family, friends, and caregivers.

He is survived by his mother, Norma Wiedeman of Hutchinson; his children, Rheanna Shae Steel of Kamiah, Idaho; Alina Brooke Wiedeman of Hallsville, Texas; and Logan Vitaly Wiedeman of Hallsville, Texas; one grandson, Kai Dane Shumate; and three siblings, Curtis and wife, Diane Wiedeman of Elgin, Illinois; Lesa and husband, John Walters of Wichita, Kansas; and Lora and husband, Warren Befort of Burlington. He was preceded in death by his father, and his beloved dog, Nestle.

A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held at 4:00 P.M., October 31, 2024, at the Burlington Baptist Bible Church in Burlington, Kansas. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to your local animal shelter or rescue organization.
