Stanley George Williams, of Eureka, died at the Greenwood County Hospital on Sunday, August 31, 2003, at the age 69.
He was born in Hamilton, Kansas, on February 19, 1934, the son of Fred George and Gladys Lenora (Carson) Williams. He was raised in Hamilton and graduated from Hamilton High School with the class of 1952. After graduation he worked in Hamilton at his brother’s service station. He then entered the United States Army and served his country with honor and dignity.
On April 10, 1960, Stan was united in marriage to Sue Coffman, in Madison, Kansas. They made their home in Eureka where Stan leased the Sinclair service station at 6th and Main Street and later at River and Oak Street. In 1968, he purchased the Texaco station on River Street and operated it until his retirement in 1998.
Stan was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Eureka.
He is survived by his wife, Sue of the home; two daughters, Karen Hughes and her husband Andy of Eureka, and Lisa Cuesta and her husband Andy of Chanute; one son, Douglas Williams and his wife Susan of Eureka; one sister, Betty Castle of Eureka; and one brother, Frank Williams of Eureka; 8 grandchildren, Bryan, Kenton, and Scott Hughes, Brandon and Kaylin Cuesta, Anthony Billinger, Bray Jenmark and her husband Brock of Junction City, and Sarah Wright and her husband James of Emporia; and 2 great grandchildren, Cody and Seth Wright. Stan was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, two sisters, and one granddaughter, Olivia Williams.
Funeral services will be held at the First United Methodist Church of Eureka, on Thursday, September 4, 2003, at 10:30 A.M. with Reverend Diana Hill officiating. Interment will follow at the Greenwood Cemetery.
A memorial has been established in his name to the First United Methodist Church of Eureka. Contributions may be sent in care of Koup Family Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.
