Sierra Joy
Sierra Sue Joy of Eureka, died on February 20, 2015 at her residence in Eureka at the age of 71.
She was born on August 28, 1943 in Eureka the daughter of Harris Elbert and Edna Fay (Wheeler) Lewis. Sierra was raised in Eureka attending local schools, graduating from Eureka High School. After her schooling, she worked on a dairy farm for a few years. Sierra was a proficient seamstress making many wedding gowns and prom dresses. Sierra did various alterations for many throughout the community. Later she opened her own day care business working until she became ill.
She is survived by her children, Tracy Joy of Topeka; Debra Lance of Severy; and Darrin Joy of Larned; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four sisters, Katherine Greenwood, Doris Bogle, and Roselletta Sponseller all of Eureka; and Brenda Meiers of Climax; and two brothers, Harris Lee Lewis and Charlie Lewis both of Eureka. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister Harriet Curnutt.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at Koup Family Funeral Home with Pastor Kevin Lawrence officiating of the Climax United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation hours are set from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Tuesday, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to the Eureka City Park. Contributions may be sent in care of Koup Family Funeral Home, P.O. Box 595, Eureka, KS 67045, which was in charge of service arrangements.
