Shirley June Eddings of El Dorado, formerly of Eureka, died on Monday, December 23, 2019 at Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital, in El Dorado, at the age of 81.

She was born on July 30, 1938, in Wichita, Kansas, the daughter of Roy and Dorothy (Breaker) Clites. She was raised in Eureka and attended local schools. In 1955, Shirley was united in marriage to Charles “Darrel” Miller. To this union, two children were born. This marriage later ended in divorce. On December 26, 1969, Shirley was united in marriage to Ted Ward Eddings in Reece. To this union, one child was born.

Shirley worked as an EMT in Eureka and also was a Dispatcher for the Greenwood County Sheriff’s Department for many years. She was an attendant of the Jefferson Street Baptist Church of Eureka.

She is survived by her children, Vikki Hegwald of Humboldt, Kansas; Michael Miller of Eureka; and John Eddings of Emporia; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Terry Clites, Jerry Clites, and Larry Clites.

Memorial services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, December 28, 2019 at Koup Family Funeral Home, Eureka with Pastor Dustin Lampe (grandson) of the Chandler Friends Church officiating. Cremation has been effected. A family inurnment will take place at a later date at Greenwood Cemetery, Eureka.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Contributions may be sent in care of Koup Family Funeral Home, P.O.
