Shirley Nell Colin, of Eureka, died at her residence on Thursday, February 15, 2007, at the age of 63.
She was born in Wichita, Kansas on February 14, 1944, the daughter of Al Kenneth and Audrey Naomi (Harvey) Derringer. She was raised in Wichita and attended Wichita schools. After her schooling she remained in Wichita until 1974, when she moved to Toronto, Kansas. In 1995, she moved to Eureka.
On November 12, 2001, Shirley was united in marriage to William “Bill” Colin in Eureka. They made their home in Eureka where she was a homemaker.
Shirley was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
She is survived by her husband, Bill, of the home, one son, William Henley of Eureka, four daughters, Bonita Watts, Mikala Smith, and Naomi Damron all of Toronto, and Reatha Henley of Towanda, sixteen grandchildren, six great grandchildren; two brothers, Jacob Tanner of Wagner, Oklahoma, and Gary Tanner of Lawrence, and four sisters, Daisy Potter and Kay Derringer both of Wichita, Louise Snyder of Kettle Falls, Washington, and Christina Tanner of Jay, Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her parents, one grandchild, one great grandchild, and two brothers.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, February 20, 2007, at Koup Family Funeral Home, with President Joel Jiles of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in her name to the American Cancer Society. Contributions may be sent in care of the funeral home.
