Sheila Louise Kriesel, of Eureka, formerly of Bloomfield, New York, died on Wednesday, October 2, 2013, at her home with her husband Keith Kalen Kriesel, at the age of 52.

She was born June 3, 1961, in Canandaigua, New York, the daughter of Floyd and Dolores (Teamerson) Rayburn. She attended school in Bloomfield, NY and graduated from Bloomfield Central School. After attending Finger Lakes Community College she joined the United States Air Force in 1982. She served actively for 11 years and as a reserve for an additional 3 years. While in the Air Force, she served in Operation Desert Storm.

From 1984-1989 she was married to David William Scheff. From this marriage, she had two daughters Christina and Catherine.

On May 23, 1992, she was united in marriage to Keith Kalen Kriesel in England. After honorable services in the Air Force, they decided to make their home in Eureka, Kansas. She worked for the Greenwood County Attorney’s office for over 14 years. She was involved in the local VFW Post #2712. She also enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s activities.

She is survived by daughter, Christina Scheff and fiancé, Tony Scott of Eureka; daughter, Catherine Scheff of Eureka; step-son, Matthew Kriesel and fiancé Sandra Johnson of Osawatomie; step-son, Michael and wife, Erica Kriesel of Osawatomie; step-son, Tyler and wife, Samantha Kriesel of Osawatomie; 4 brothers, Paul, Jimmy, Floyd, and Mark; and 3 sisters, Mary, Martha, and Pam, all of New York; 12 grandchildren, their dog, Jazza; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister-in-law, Mary Knobel Rayburn.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M, Saturday, October 12, 2013 at the Eureka Junior/Senior High School Auditorium with Pastor Larry Evans of the Neal Evangelical Free Church officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Zion Cemetery, Liberty Township, Elk County, southwest of Fall River. Visitation hours are set for 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Friday, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to the Sheila and Keith Kalen Kriesel Family Benefit Fund. Contributions may be sent in care of Koup Family Funeral Home, P.O. Box 595, Eureka, KS 67045, which was in charge of service arrangements.
