Ruth Marie Stonebraker, of Eureka, died on Thursday, October 26, 2006, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas at the age of 75.
She was born on October 14, 1931, in New Lancaster, Kansas the daughter of Glenn A. and Pearl (Walters) Cain. She was raised in Manhattan, Kansas and graduated from Manhattan High School with the class of 1949.
On April 9, 1951, she was united in marriage to Robert “Bob” Stonebraker in Manhattan, Kansas. They traveled with Bob’s job until the mid 1960’s when they settled in Denver, Colorado. In the mid 1980’s they moved to Eureka where they owned and operated The Place, a retail clothing store. Bob preceded her in death on August 21, 1992. Ruth continued with their business until her retirement.
She is survived by one brother, Keith Cain of Junction City, Kansas, and her extended family, Dave and Annette Hearn of Eureka; Ryan Hearn of Salina, Kansas and Evan Hearn of Emporia, Kansas. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and only daughter, Debra Donahue.
Memorial services will be at 2:00 P.M., Monday, November 6, 2006, at Koup Family Funeral Home with Pastor Roger Dennis of Christ Lutheran Church officiating. Inurnment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
