Royalyn Rosalie Lynes, of Eureka, died on Tuesday, October 04, 2011 at Eureka Nursing Center, in Eureka at the age of 88.
She was born on December 22, 1922, in Deerfield, Kansas, the daughter of Clarence Homer and Edna Ruth (Bumgardner) Dale. She was raised in Deerfield, and graduated from Deerfield High School. After her schooling she continued to live on the family farm helping with the enormous vegetable garden along the Arkansas River.
On December 6, 1941, Royalyn was united in marriage to Cleo Everett Lynes in Garden City. They lived in various places in Kansas and Missouri before settling in Eureka in 1954. This marriage later ended in divorce. Royalyn later moved to Wichita. She became a CNA and worked for nursing homes in Eureka and many hospitals and nursing homes in Wichita.
Royalyn was a homemaker and a member of the Jefferson Street Baptist Church of Eureka, and the Olivet Baptist Church of Wichita.
She is survived by three children: son, Dale Lynes of Moran; daughter, Mary Thornton of Eureka; and son, Curtis Lynes of Piedmont; eight grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Curtiss Dale of Three Oaks, Michigan. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Betty Susko; granddaughter, Brandi Lynes; and two sisters, Evelyn Cole, and Dorothy Jones.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, October 7, 2011 at Greenwood Cemetery with Pastor Gary Boles of the Moline Community Fellowship officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to Amedisys Hospice. Contributions may be sent in care of Koup Family Funeral Home at P.O. Box 595, Eureka, KS 67045, which was in charge of service arrangements.
