Roy Elwood Strong, of Eureka, died on Wednesday, December 29, 2004 at Greenwood County Hospital, in Eureka, Kansas at the age of 84.
He was born on August 2, 1920, in Cedar Point, Kansas, the son of William Henry and Maggie (Jenner) Strong. He graduated in 1941 from Rosalia High School. After high school, he worked for Blackburn Construction. He also worked as a ranch hand for several years. Roy later worked ten years for the Greenwood County Road and Bridge Department, from which he retired.
On September 15, 1974, Roy was united in marriage to Martha Hellman in Eureka, Kansas, where they made their home.
Roy was a member of the Jefferson Street Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife Martha; two brothers, Earl Strong of Augusta and Truman Strong of Colorado; two sisters, Edna Campbell of Fort Scott and Minnie Hoyle of Hutchinson. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Emma and two brothers.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 A.M., December 31, 2004, at Jefferson Street Baptist Church with Pastor Alan Hunter officiating. Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery.
