Roy William Janney, born in Mulberry, Kansas, January 16, 1910, died on April 10, 2003. He graduated from Mulberry Kansas High School and then was employed by Cities Service Oil Company in Oil Hill, Kansas until 1951; serving the positions of field boss and electrical foreman.

He then moved to El Dorado, Kansas where he, with his wife, Lorena B. Suschnick of Pittsburg, Kansas, owned and operated the Janney Tractor Company Incorporated and the Janney Oil Drilling and Production Company in eastern Kansas. He and Mrs. Janney had been married since August 17, 1940.

While living in El Dorado he was a member of the First Baptist Church for 26 years where he served as trustee and Sunday school teacher of sophomore boys as well as sitting on the Church Board for 12 years. Mr. Janney was president of the El Dorado Knife and Fork Club and was “life member” of Patmos Lodge #97 and a 32nd degree Mason. In 1976 he retired to their farm in Eureka, Kansas where he joined the Christian & Congregational Church, serving as a trustee and on the building committee. He joined and was active in Eureka Lions Club for many years.

Survivors in addition to his wife, Lorena, are two sons, Gary George Janney of El Dorado, and William LeRoy Janney of Tyler, Texas. He enjoyed his five granddaughters, Cristina, and Annette Janney, Jennifer Harris all of Kansas, and Kymberlyn Irvin and Lea Lynn Berryhill of the Dallas/Fort Worth area, as well as three great-granddaughters of Texas also.

Mr. Janney was preceded in death by his mother, Virgie Janney, father, George Janney, two brothers, Lester and Elmer V., and two sisters, Ollie McKay and Dollie M. Teichgraeber.

Mr. and Mrs. Janney enjoyed remodeling their 100-year-old house, he being talented and able due to much experience in his early years working in an ice plant, slaughterhouse, running hay bailers and thrashing machines, and repairing equipment for his many friends. He especially loved his family, the out of doors, woodworking, and all machinery.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, April 12, 2003, at the Koup Family Funeral Home with Reverend Bill Coburn officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
