Rosie L. Stafford
Rosie Linden Stafford, of Hamilton, died on June 2, 2012 at Harry Hynes Hospice - St. Francis in Wichita at the age of 87.
Rosie was born on May 14, 1925 in Madison, Kansas the daughter of Frank C. and Fay M. (Uhl) Linden. She grew up in the Hamilton area and attending local schools graduating with the class of 1944. After her schooling, he worked a variety of jobs before going to work for Hallmark Cards in Emporia for 12 years. After Hallmark moved to Lawrence she went to work for Dolly Madison Bakery as a production worker in Emporia for 14 years until her retirement.
She married Charles Barton Tippie and to this union two children were born, Loretta Jane and Marcella Eileen Tippie. Charles preceded her in death. Rosie then married James “Orville” Stafford and to this union two children were born Kenneth O. and Shelley Stafford. Orville preceded her in death in 1989.
She was a member of the Hamilton First United Methodist Church.
Rosie is survived by her step-daughter, Carolyn Stafford-Smith of Wichita; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; four brothers, James Linden of Sterling; Mason Linden of Elk Falls; Fred Linden of Braman, Oklahoma; and John Linden of Hamilton; three sisters, Esther Pugh of El Dorado; Karen Sickler of Neosho Rapids; and Mavis Linden of Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, four children, one brother and one sister.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, June 7, 2012 at Janesville Cemetery in Hamilton, with Pastor Mark Demas of the Hamilton United Methodist Church officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to the Hamilton Public Library or the United Methodist Church of Hamilton. Contributions may be sent in care of Koup Family Funeral Home at P.O. Box 595, Eureka, KS 67045, which was in charge of service arrangements.
