Roberta “Jean” Nordmeyer of Eureka, died on Friday, April 15, 2011, at the Greenwood County Hospital in Eureka, at the age of 79.
She was born on September 17, 1931, in Piedmont, the daughter of Milo Quinn and Opal Mae (Satchell) Moore. She was raised in the Piedmont and Eureka area, and attended local schools. Jean worked for her mother at The Steakhouse in Eureka, and at the dairy with her grandmother. She later worked many years at Medicalodge in Eureka. She lived in many different places around Greenwood County. She loved researching genealogy, fishing, spending time with her family, and gardening. In her later years, she traveled extensively to research genealogical history.
Jean was a member of the Piedmont Christian Church.
Jean is survived by four children, daughter, Billie Jean and husband, Lonnie Hanson of Eureka; son, Jerry Lee and wife, Mary Jane Doles of Tyrone, Oklahoma; son, Larry Dean and wife, Karen Doles of Oak Harbor, Washington; and daughter, Teresa Arlene and husband, Brad Felter of Girard; seven grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Milo Lloyd Moore of Eureka; and David Lee Moore of Eureka. She was preceded in death by her parents, and two sisters, Freda Hammond and Arlene Ann Moore.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at Piedmont Cemetery, in Piedmont with Pastor Alan Hunter of the Jefferson Street Baptist Church officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to Friendship Meals. Contributions may be sent in care of Koup Family Funeral Home at P.O. Box 595, Eureka, KS 67045, which was in charge of service arrangements.
