Robert Michael "Mike" Shepherd

Robert Michael “Mike” Shepherd, died in Wichita on Monday, October 18, 2004, at the age of 46.
He was born on July 31, 1958, in Chula Vista, California, the son of Bobby Shepherd and Venita (Pepper) Chamberlain. He was raised in Severy and attended Severy Grade School and West Elk High School, graduating with the class of 1977.
On June 27, 1980, Mike was united in marriage to Dawn Marie Rebecca Johnson in Howard, Kansas. They made their home in rural Eureka. Mike was in the drywall business and after their marriage started, his own business called Shepherd Drywall. He worked in Wichita and the surrounding areas as well as locally.
Mike was a past Boy Scout Leader for Troop 216 of Eureka.
He is survived by his wife Becky, of the home, two sons and daughters-in-law, Shannon and Samantha Shepherd and Shane and Christina Shepherd, one daughter, Shawna Shepherd, two grandchildren, Gabriel Shepherd and Shyanne Shepherd all of Eureka, parents, Venita and Dale Chamberlain of Severy, and Bobby and Andrea Shepherd of Winfield, one brother, Shawn Shepherd of Rock, one sister, Sherrie Bunyard of Severy, one step-brother, Gary Chamberlain of Piedmont, and two step-sisters, Karen Swint of Udall, and Mary Scott of Derby. He was preceded in death by one brother, Wayne Shepherd.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, October 21, 2004, from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., at Koup Family Funeral Home in Eureka. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, October 22, 2004, at the funeral home, with Pastor Alan Hunter of the Jefferson Street Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made in his name to Boy Scout Troop 216 of Eureka or the American Diabetes Association. Contributions may be sent in care of the funeral at P.O. Box 595, Eureka, Kansas 67045.
