Robert Dale Hennessey (known aliases: Hendawg and The Ace) of Eureka, Kansas, died on November 21st, 2021, in El Dorado, Kansas.
Preceded in death by his parents Delbert and Freda Hennessey, his sisters Sally Haga and Nancy Clites, and his brothers Laverne Hennessey and Doyle Hennessey.
Robert graduated from Eureka High School, despite having “borrowed” a school bus prior to graduation. “The keys were in it,” was his only defense.
After securing his legacy in Eureka by breaking the lap record around the lake, he went on to become a self-titled legend wherever he went. Firm believer that “The more I drink, the better I play,” he spent his life thoroughly testing this theory, applying it to pool, golf, bowling, and somehow fishing. He admired fellow legends including Big Foot, Aliens, and The Loch Ness Monster, never failing to keep you updated on the latest evidence.
He was happiest when out by the lake, surrounded by family with a Bud light in one hand and a Cigarillo in the other. He was always smiling near the campfire, listening to a perfectly crafted playlist, while waiting for the right time to tell a story, add a joke, or quote a favorite movie. All of his stories and the memories shared will be remembered by his friends and family.
He is survived by his wife, Shannon, brother, Paul Hennessey, sister, Kathy Robinson, children: Toby, Jana, Devon, Ashley, Melissa, Haleigh, Kelsey, and Savannah, and grandchildren: Zane, Brooks, Kaylee, Regan, Jersey, and Jentri.
Friends and family are welcome to celebrate his life, have a few drinks, and share some stories to help add to the legend on Monday, December 6th, at the VFW from 12 - 4 p.m.
