Robert Frank Hays, of Eureka, died at Kansas Medical Center in Andover, Kansas on August 1, 2013, at the age of 79.
He was born in Iola, Kansas on March 13, 1934, the son of Clyde L. Sr. and Ida M. (Michael) Hays. He was raised in Iola and Vigil, and graduated from Virgil High School. Robert then joined the United States Navy and served his country with honor and dignity. Upon his discharge, he attended and graduated from Kansas State Teachers College in Emporia with a degree in accounting. After his schooling, he worked in Ponca City, Oklahoma for the oil industry, then as Chief Accountant for the Wichita School District. He then moved to Eureka and became the Office Manager for Tom Bird Oil. He retired in 1996.
On March 25, 1967, Robert was united in marriage to Betty J. Cope.
He is survived by his wife, Betty of the home; two brothers, David Hays of Salina, Kansas; and Lonnie Hays of Wellington, Kansas; and two sisters, Betty Blair of Stratford, Texas; and Elvira Aikens of Wilsey, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at Koup Family Funeral Home with Mr. Jayme A. Koup officiating. Inurnment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
