Robert Joseph “Bigen” Harber, of Neal, died on Saturday, December 31, 2005, at Medicalodge in Eureka, at the age of 66.

He was born on February 22, 1939, in Neal, the son of Amos B. and Aleda May (Shumard) Harber. He was raised in Neal, attending Neal Grade School, and graduating from Tonovay High School. He was a lifetime resident of Neal, and owned his own trucking business, driving for several years.

On April 2, 1957, he was united in marriage to Claudine “Sis” Savage in Eureka. The couple made their home in Neal. Sis preceded him in death on August 29, 2004.

Bob was a member of the Neal United Methodist Church, the Woodson Masonic Lodge #121 AF & AM, and the Eastern Star.

He is survived by four daughters, Cindy Boone of Eureka; Tammy White of Arkansas City; Tonya Nix of Blue Jacket, Oklahoma; and Connie Lawrence of Gridley; twelve grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren; one brother, Roy “Pop” Harber of Eureka; two sisters, Betty Boone of Neal; and Joyce Johnson of Wichita; and one aunt, Norma Harber of Neal. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and one grandchild.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, January 4, 2006, at Koup Family Funeral Home, Eureka with Pastor Mark Demas of the Neal United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will follow in Neal Cemetery.

Memorials have been established in his name with the Neal Community Building, and the Neal United Methodist Church. Contributions may be sent in care of the funeral home at P.O. Box 595, Eureka, KS 67045.
