Richard Gale Odle, 82, of Eureka, Kansas, passed away on Thursday, November 16, 2017 at Vintage Park in Eureka, Kansas.
Funeral services for Rich will be held on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Green Mountain United Church of Christ in Green Mountain. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 24, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Memorials may be directed to the family. Richard Odle was born on August 1, 1935 in Houston, Missouri to Albert and Grace Gobble Odle. He graduated from Houston High School in Missouri in 1953. On April 14, 1956, Rich was united in marriage to Bonnie Collins in Hernando, Mississippi. They made their home in Houston, Missouri until 1958 then moved to Green Mountain. Rich had worked for Swifts for 31 plus years as a maintenance mechanic. He also had worked for Eureka Transport, Marshall Motor Coach and officiated High School sports. Rich had accepted Christ at a young age and was a board member of the United Church of Christ as well as Masonic Lodge 106 in Eureka, charter member of Green Mountain Lions Club, Izaak Walton League, Boy Scout Leader, member of the Green Mountain Fire Department, IWLA of Marshall County, IOOF Lodge and Green Mountain High School Athletic Booster. He enjoyed fishing with his family and friends, dancing, country music and camping.
Rich will be greatly missed by his children: Terry (Conni) Odle of Altoona, Tim (Kim) Odle of Mason City, Tom (Annette) Odle of Plano, Texas and Tab Odle of Reece, Kansas. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Jadi (Grant), Eli (Melinda), Justin and Kaitlyn as well as two great grandchildren on the way and nieces Linda (Ron) Siex and Dixie (Sam) Ives.
Rich is preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie, parents Albert and Grace, siblings Raymond (Garnett) Odle, Ruby (Woodrow) Sweet and nephew Roger Odle and niece Bonnie Odle.
