Richard Ira Nichols

Richard Ira Nichols, of Eureka, died at the Eureka Nursing Center on Tuesday, February 1, 2011, at the age of 73.
He was born in Greenwood County, Kansas on May 6, 1937, the son of Philip Rodney and Wilma Augusta (Butler) Nichols. He was raised in Greenwood County and graduated from Tonovay High School. Shortly after his schooling, he was involved in an automobile accident. His mother and father took care of him until the last nine years of his life when then he entered the nursing home.
He is survived by three brothers, Arnold Nichols of Eureka; Jerry Nichols of Ponca City, Oklahoma; and Harold Grubb of Holly, Colorado; and one sister, Vickie Shumate of Eureka. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, February 4, 2011, at Greenwood Cemetery with Mr. Jayme Koup officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to the Eureka Senior Center. Contributions may be sent in care of Koup Family Funeral Home at P.O. Box 595, Eureka, KS 67045, which was in charge of service arrangements.
