Richard D. “Dick” Braden
Richard Dale “Dick” Braden of Eureka, died on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at the Eureka Nursing Center, at the age of 69.
He was born on July 20, 1943, in Eureka, the son of Phil “PL” and Alberta (Prather) Braden. He was raised in Eureka and graduated from Eureka High School. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army where he served his country with honor and dignity for two years. After his discharge, he attended business college in Emporia. He returned to Eureka and began working for Hibbard Insurance and Real Estate, eventually purchasing the business from Andy Hibbard. In 1975, Dick bought the family farm outside of Eureka and began residing there.
On May 11, 1976, Dick was united in marriage to Tina Maloney in Eureka where they made their home. Dick and Tina have been in business together since 1976.
He is survived by his wife, Tina of the home; step-daughter, Cindy Saunders of Eureka; step-son, Terry Pursell of Enid, Oklahoma; four step-grandchildren, Lori Moreno, Casey Pursell, Jennifer Saunders, and Jeremy Saunders; four step-great-grandchildren, Savannah, Anne, Ben, and Lily; one brother, Philip Lee Braden of Texas; and one nephew, Jeff Braden of Keller, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, January 19, 2013 at Christ Lutheran Church in Eureka with Pastor Nancy Mitchell officiating, and Reverend Kenneth Baker eulogizing. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation hours will be from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Friday, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to Christ Lutheran Church or to the First United Methodist Church. Contributions may be sent in care of Koup Family Funeral Home, P.O. Box 595, Eureka, KS 67045, which was in charge of service arrangements.
