Rebecca Anne Denchfield-Stone, of Augusta, died at her residence on June 21, 2003, at the age of 24.
She was born on July 6, 1978 in Eureka, Kansas, the daughter of David and Sigrid (Christian) Denchfield. She was raised in Eureka, Kansas, and graduated from Hamilton High School with the class of 1996. She attended Labette County Community College, and began working for El Dorado Correctional Facility in January 2001.
On December 29, 2001, she was united in marriage to Michael Stone at her parent’s rural Severy home. They made their home in Augusta, Kansas.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Eureka, Kansas.
She is survived by her husband, Michael, of the home; her parents, David and Sigrid Denchfield of Severy; one brother and sister-in-law, Jeff and Jennifer Denchfield of Council Grove; grandparents, Bill and Josiane Christian of Bishop, Texas, and Dorothy Denchfield of Neal, Kansas; two uncles, Steve Christian of Cuero, Texas, and Fred Denchfield of Neal, Kansas; one aunt, Myriam Imhoff of the Denver, Colorado area; several cousins and her beloved niece, Ashleigh Denchfield.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, June 27, 2003, at Koup Family Funeral Home with Pastor Larry Evans of the Neal Evangelical Free Church officiating. Interment will follow in Piedmont Cemetery, Piedmont, Kansas.
A memorial has been established in her name to the Rebecca Denchfield Memorial Scholarship Fund. Contributions may be sent in care of the funeral home at P.O. Box 595, Eureka KS 67045.
