Raymond Eugene “Bud” Denner of Eureka, died on Friday, June 30, 2023, at the Eureka Nursing Center, in Eureka, at the age of 79.

He was born on February 24, 1944, in Eureka, the son of Paul Eugene and Esta Myrrl (Beaumont) Denner. He was raised in Eureka and graduated from local schools. As a young boy he did road work with his father. After his schooling, he enlisted in the National Guard and was later called up for and served in Vietnam. He served with honor and dignity and was honorably discharged. On May 27, 1966, Bud was united in marriage to Candace Lea Frakes in Eureka. They made their home in Eureka.

After he returned home from the service, he worked for the Cities of Eureka, Severy, and Leon at different times, mainly road work. He also worked for Russell and Sons Construction and took care of several older relatives. He also did some welding with his brother, Fred. In 1979, he and Candy adopted two girls into their family. Candy preceded him in death on March 8, 2019.

He is survived by his daughters, Mary Thiessen of Gardner, Kansas; and Chastity and husband, Daniel Anderson of Wichita; four grandchildren: Remington Thiessen; Nathan and wife, Brianna Anderson; Chazney Thiessen; and Nicholas Anderson; and four siblings: Frances and wife, Jim Bobey of Eureka; Fred and wife, Darlene Denner of Eureka; Kathleen and husband, Jim Andrew of Madison; and Sheila Lumley of Portland, Oregon; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; siblings, Walter Paul Denner, and Edith Haney; and brothers-in-law, Danny Lumley, and Larry Haney.

Memorial services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, July 15, 2023, at the Eureka Senior Center, in Eureka, with Pastor Kevin Lawrence of the Climax United Methodist Church officiating. Cremation has been effected. Inurnment will follow at 11:00 A.M., at Greenwood Cemetery, Eureka.
