Phyllis Deloris Hare of Eureka, died on Friday, April 01, 2011, at the Eureka Nursing Center, in Eureka, at the age of 74.
She was born on September 29, 1936, in Madison, the daughter of Marion Luther and Bessie Elzira (Pittman) Crabtree. She was raised in Madison and attended Madison schools. On July 19, 1952, she was united in marriage to Donald Lee Hare in Hamilton. The family lived mainly in Neodesha, and Hamilton and later, Eureka. Phyllis graduated from nursing school as a CNA and always worked for nursing homes. Donald preceded her in death on August 17, 2004.
Phyllis was a member of the American Legion of Toronto Women’s Auxiliary.
She is survived by five sons, Thomas M. and wife, Sheryl Hare of Eureka; Ronald L. and wife, Donna Hare of Chanute; Donald E. and wife, Mindy Hare of Kansas City, Missouri; Jeffrey L. and wife, Shirley Hare of Eureka; and James A. and wife, Michele Hare of Ozark, Missouri; eighteen grandchildren; twenty-eight great-grandchildren; and one sister, Ann Jardot of Eureka. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers, and four sisters.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, April 4, 2011 at Toronto Cemetery, with Chaplain Paul Shoemaker of Amedisys Hospice of El Dorado officiating. A visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M., Sunday, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to the Eureka Nursing Center. Contributions may be sent in care of Koup Family Funeral Home at P.O. Box 595, Eureka, KS 67045, which was in charge of service arrangements.
