Philip Vernon Cracraft, of Eureka, died on Tuesday, October 16, 2007, at Greenwood County Hospital in Eureka, at the age of 86.
He was born on January 1, 1921, in Eureka, the son of Vernon and Alberta (Olds) Cracraft. He was raised in Eureka and attended local schools. In his sophomore year of high school, he joined the United States Navy, serving his country with honor and dignity for seven years. After his discharge, he worked for Shell Oil Company in Long Beach, California.
On November 11, 1945, Philip was united in marriage to Evelyn Souders in Eureka. He later worked for numerous other oil companies. Philip later went to work in the jukebox division of the Rudolph Wurlitzer Company. He worked at Wurlitzer for 21 years, eventually leaving to operate his own amusement route in Wofford Heights, California until his retirement in 1979, when the family moved back to Eureka.
He was a member of VFW Post #2712.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn; daughter, Janis Kidd and husband, Louie of Cherryvale; and grandson, Reverend Kevin Kidd and wife, Lynn; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Monday, October 22, 2007, at Koup Family Funeral Home, Eureka, with Pastor Larry Evans of the Neal Evangelical Free Church officiating. A visitation will be held from 3:00 P.M. – 5:00 P.M., Sunday, at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
