Pearl Elaine (Bobey) Hawkins, of Virgil, died at Medicalodge of Eureka on Thursday, October 4, 2007, at the age of 89.
She was born near Virgil on August 9, 1918, the daughter of Verne O. and Elaine Christina (Nelson) Bobey. She attended school at Virgil and graduated from Virgil High School.
On July 27, 1938, she was united in marriage to Floyd Elmer Hawkins of Quincy. Floyd was killed in a hunting accident in 1947. Later in life, Pearl was united in marriage to Norman Watts of Hamilton. Pearl resided in Greenwood County around Quincy and Virgil most of her life and her family home remains west of Virgil.
She was a homemaker, a member of the Virgil United Methodist Church, the Order of the Eastern Star, and a past member of the Virgil Cemetery Board.
She is survived by one daughter, Janice Ashley, and husband, Sherman of Virgil; two sons, Jerry Bobey and wife, Linda of Blue Eye, Missouri; and Jim Bobey of Eureka; eight grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Floyd Hawkins and Norman Watts; one grandchild, and two great-grandchildren.
Graveside services and interment will be held at 11:30 A.M., Tuesday, October 9, 2007, at the Virgil Cemetery with Pastor Mark Demas officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to the Virgil Cemetery Fund. Contributions may be sent in care of Koup Family Funeral Home at P.O. Box 595, Eureka which was in charge of service arrangements.
