Paulyne W. Teter, 86, homemaker, died on Wednesday, August 20, 2003, at Brewster Place in Topeka where she has lived since August of 2001.
She was born in Eureka on July 19, 1917, the daughter of John R. and Ollie (Powell) Knox. She attended the Eureka schools, graduating from Eureka High School with the class of 1935.
On September 15, 1935, she was united in marriage to James Murle Teter at Christ Lutheran Church in Eureka. They made their home on the Teter Ranch and moved to Eureka in 1942. Two daughters were born to this union. Mrs. Teter was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years on May 7, 1993.
Mrs. Teter was a lifelong member of the Christ Lutheran Church. She was active as a sponsor of Luther League and in other church activities. She was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and a former member of Mothers’ Study Club. She was a member of several bridge clubs and a member of the Eureka Country Club, serving as president in 1988. Active in Greenwood County Republican Women, Mrs. Teter served as chairman of the 5th District in 1958. She was a member of Greenwood County Cowbelles and of the Kansas Cowbelles.
She is survived by two daughters, Linda Hendrickson and son-in-law, Paul, of Eureka; Sally Monninger and son-in-law, Tom, of Lawrence; four grandsons; Eric Hendrickson, Bryan Monninger, Ross Hendrickson and Michael Monninger; five great-grandchildren; Breanna Hendrickson, Spencer, Trevor and Sydney Monninger, Jack Hendrickson; five nieces and four nephews.
Mrs. Teter was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother, four sisters and a nephew.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 23 at Christ Lutheran Church where a memorial has been established in her name. Interment will be in Belle Vista Cemetery in El Dorado. Funeral arrangements were by the Koup Family Funeral Home.
