Pauline Elizabeth Oblander of Eureka, died on Tuesday, December 14, 2010, at Villa Maria Nursing Center in Mulvane at the age of 95.
She was born on October 16, 1915 in Marion, the daughter of Bert and Nellie (Geortz) Conyers. She was raised in rural Greenwood County and attended local schools. After her schooling, Pauline taught school for six years. In November of 1937 she was united in marriage to Levi Oblander in Piedmont. They made their home in Eureka. She worked at Sears, State Farm and helped her husband Levi with his mechanical business while raising three sons.
Pauline was a member of the Greenwood County Hospital Auxiliary, a Greenwood County Cancer Association coordinator, a Greenwood County Historical Society board member, a volunteer at the Eureka Nursing Center, and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Eureka.
She is survived by two sons, G. Dean and wife, Evelyn Oblander of Derby; and Douglas A. and wife, Fran Oblander of Bluffton, South Carolina; daughter-in-law, Lorena Oblander of Redmond, Washington; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law, Iola Chambers of Eureka; and Helen Bland of Wichita. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Don G. Oblander, one great-grandchild, four brothers, and four sisters.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, December 20, 2010, at the First United Methodist Church of Eureka with Reverend Diana Hill officiating. A private family interment will be held prior. Visitations hours are from 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M., Sunday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to the First United Methodist Church of Eureka. Contributions may be sent in care of Koup Family Funeral Home at P.O. Box 595, Eureka, KS 67045, which was in charge of service arrangements.
